Call for Immediate Action on an AI Bill of Rights
“With innovation comes responsibility. We must ensure that the technologies shaping our future respect our values, protect our children, and preserve our God-given rights.”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
I Call for Immediate Action on an AI Bill of Rights to Protect Florida Families, Children, and Personal Privacy
Hillsborough County, FL — I am calling on Florida lawmakers to take immediate action to pass a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence (AI) Bill of Rights after similar legislation failed to pass the Florida House during the 2026 legislative session.
As someone with a professional background in web development and technology, I have worked directly with the systems that power today’s digital platforms. I understand not only what artificial intelligence is capable of today, but where it is heading. The reality is simple: our laws are not keeping pace with the rapid advancement of AI, and Floridians are being left exposed.
During the 2026 session, the Florida Senate took an important step forward by passing AI-related protections. However, the failure to move that legislation through the House means those protections never became law. I believe that was a missed opportunity—and one we cannot afford to repeat.
Artificial intelligence is already shaping how information is shared, how decisions are made, and how personal data is collected and used. From deepfake technology and identity manipulation to algorithm-driven profiling and data harvesting, the risks are real and growing. Without clear legal safeguards, these tools can and will be used in ways that harm individuals, families, and small businesses.
Through my experience as a web programmer, I have seen how data is collected, stored, and leveraged behind the scenes. Most people would be shocked to learn how much of their personal information is being tracked, analyzed, and utilized by systems they don’t even realize they are interacting with. Even more concerning is how AI can amplify that data into predictive behavior models, targeted influence, and automated decision-making with little to no transparency.
That is why I strongly support the passage of an AI Bill of Rights that puts people first and establishes clear, enforceable protections for every Floridian.
I believe any meaningful AI legislation must include full transparency when individuals are interacting with artificial intelligence systems. Floridians deserve to know when they are speaking to a machine instead of a human. It must also include strong protections for children, including parental consent requirements and limitations on how AI systems engage with minors.
Additionally, we must set firm boundaries on how personal data is collected, stored, and used. Companies should not be allowed to exploit user data without clear disclosure and accountability. There must also be safeguards against deceptive uses of AI, including deepfakes, voice cloning, and unauthorized use of a person’s likeness.
Equally important, there must be real consequences for those who misuse these technologies. Without enforcement, regulations are meaningless. We must ensure that companies and bad actors who violate these protections are held fully accountable under the law.
I firmly believe that Florida can lead the nation in both innovation and responsibility. We do not have to choose between technological advancement and protecting our citizens—we can and must do both.
I am committed to working with lawmakers, industry leaders, and the community to ensure that we pass strong, effective AI protections that reflect the realities of today’s technology and the challenges of tomorrow.
Artificial intelligence is not the future—it is already here. It is time for our laws to catch up.
