I believe that parental rights are fundamental to a free and strong society. Parents have the God-given responsibility and authority to raise, guide, and shape the lives of their children. This is not a role that belongs to government—it belongs to families. Protecting parental rights as a standalone principle is essential to preserving freedom, accountability, and the values that hold our communities together.

At the same time, parental rights in education play an equally critical role in shaping the future of our children and our nation. Education is one of the most important areas where parents must have a clear voice, meaningful involvement, and the ability to make decisions that reflect the needs of their child. Every child is different, and parents are best positioned to understand how their children learn, grow, and succeed.

These two principles—parental rights and parental rights in education—are not separate issues. They are deeply connected. I believe we must reinforce the role of parents as the primary decision-makers in their children’s lives while ensuring they are active partners in the educational process.
